| Michelle Lavoie created shiftingground design in 2004 to investigate technology and it's role in visual communication both in the areas of art and design.
Michelle has been a professional visual artist for the past 20 years. She has exhibited her work in numerous local, national and international exhibitions. She has taught for the Department of Art and Design at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton since 1991, with additional teaching posts at NSCAD University, Halifax and Queen’s University,Kingston. Her artwork is featured in numerous public and private collections.
Michelle divides her time between creating art, teaching art and developing a design practice. This site showcases Michelle’s visual art and design portfolios. The visual artwork spans 20 years of professional practice. The design portfolio represents a more recent undertaking, spanning only the past 5 years. Visual art and the design each represent unique areas of practice and investigation; the site has therefore been split into two portfolios in order to best showcase these works.
I hope that you enjoy the site! Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions regarding my work.
