Michelle
Lavoie
created Shiftingground Design in October of 2004, to offer creative
graphic and website design and business solutions to individuals and
small businesses.Michelle
is able to offer unique products to her cleints because of her diverse
educational background, in both traditional visual arts and in digital
communications mediums. Michelle will be combining her expertise and
experience in the visual arts realm, with her skills in digital arts
media and technology, to create unique and professional digital communication
packages for her clients. As
a professional visual artist and art instructor, Michelle has taught
for the printmaking division of the Department of Art and Design at
the University of Alberta, Edmonton Alberta, since graduating with
her Masters Degree in Visual Art, in 1991.
Previous to receiving her Master's degree, Michelle received a Bachelor
of Fine Arts, from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Michelle
has also taught for the Fine Art faculties at NSCAD, the Nova Scotia
College of Art and Design, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Queen's University,
Kingston, Ontario. In 2004, Michelle received a Certificate in Digital
Communications from NAIT (the Northern Alberta, Institute of Technology),
specializing in Web Design.
As an active visual artist, Michelle has shown nationally
and internationally. In September, Michelle was invited to show her
work in Busan South Korea, at the Busan International Print Art Festival.
In October of 2005, Michelle was showing her work with Department
of Art and Design, Printmaking Division, at Kloster Bentage, Reine
Germany. In November of 2005, Michelle was showing her art work with
the Department of Art and Design, at Silpakorn University Bangkok,
Thailand. In February of 2006, this show travelled back Canada to
show at FAB Gallery, Edmonton, Alberta, and in April of 2006, the
show traveled to Tokyo, Japan, in association with Tama Art University,
Tokyo.
